Introduction

Because of the critical nature of many applications, Pickup Bellows Ltd manufacture expansion joints to extremely high standards from top quality materials supplied to rigid specifications. Throughout manufacture our quality assurance team carry out in-house checks to ensure our rigid standards are being maintained.

All expansion joint assemblies are subject to one or more of the following non-destructive tests:

  • Hydrostatic pressure testing - up to 1000 psig.
  • Pneumatic pressure testing - up to 10 psig.
  • Air jet leak testing.
  • Halogen leak examination.
  • Mass spectrometer examination.
  • Magnetic particle examination.
  • Ultrasonic examination.

    • Other tests include radiographic inspection and dye-penetrant inspection of the membrane longitudinal butt welds.
